My Birds/Douglas Florian's Words

On morning tide
An egret sat
And gave the beach
a feathered hat

**********

How fortunate and opportune
To have a nose that's like a spoon
Did you descend from royalty,
And is your spoon for stirring tea?
Or do you use it as a scoop
For eating peas and drinking soup?

**********

I stare
I glare
I gaze
I gawk
With keen
Mean eyes
I am the hawk.
All day I pray
For prey to view.
Be thankful if
I don't
See
You!

Magical Weekend ~ The Big Day!

Saturday.
One week ago today.
A new family was created.

Mr. and  Mrs. Smith

My youngest is married.
Just typing those words, I still get a sense of surrealness.
As if I'm watching a romantic love story...
but I'm in the plot
and my child is the one getting swept off her feet
by her love.

Ahhhh....
Everything is right with the world.

Now get the kleenex ready
(just in case) as I take you through
that magical day...

Diana worked her wonders to make the day beautiful
and carefree for Christa and Robert...

And Charlie and Peter had the job of lining up the chairs
perfectly perpendicular to a pre-chosen palm tree.
By the way, as you see in the 1st pic,
Charlie was the officiant, and what a great job he did!
And Peter said the blessing at the reception...
quite eloquent!

Back at the house
there was much primping going on, and I must say,
this was one group of GREAT bridesmaids.
I truly hope that they had as much fun
as they appeared to be having.
They certainly made the day special for Christa...

Hope is observing a little to closely...
you have a few years to go, Hope!!

I wish I was able to clone myself to be with the guys also as they got ready.
I'm sure there were some pictorial stories going on there as well!!!

In the meantime,
the dress!
Just waiting for the princess...

Now this is the moment I could not talk!!!
I managed to eek out a few words,
but the tears almost started flowing...for both of us...

And then off to the
ceremony
(the smile NEVER left her face)...

At which time I forced myself to
put my camera away!!!   So hard to do!
But those pictures will come via the pro.

At the reception, we were greeted by this
(I told you it would be beautified!)....

And we danced the night away!...

And at the end of the night...

Robert had to urge Christa into the car...

And her last words as they were driving away were...
"But I don't want to leave!!!"

Because that is how much fun
we were all having!!!

May you have a
Happy and Blessed Marriage,
Robert and Christa!

Magical Weekend ~ Part Two

Friday.
A sunny day but still with a hint of chill in the air.
Perfect.
A rehearsal luncheon was decided to be held in the picnic area of
instead of the typical dinner.

And what a great decision that was!

With both sides of the families meeting for the first time,
there was time to stroll and play and visit at leisure.
(notice Robert's Dad's potato salad in the middle of the table...yummmm!)

Strolling...
Charlie and Stine, Robert's little sister

Playing...
Nolan

And when it came time to practice,
Jess stepped into Diana's shoes
and did a great job!
(but you were missed, Diana!!)

This is certainly a "party"...

Now, with the rehearsal over,
we had time to finish the last minute details.

There were card games to catch up on...

Bouquets to put together...

Groom's Cake to be made (Michelle's artistry).
At one point in searching for a wedding venue,
Robert expressed the fear
of perhaps a raccoon walking out of the woods
and through the wedding ceremony.
This comment hit the funny bone of the DiGi girls,
thus this cake...

The finishing touches of the
cake topper still needed to be created...

Ta-da....
(Mish's first wedding cake!)

And the night ends!

Coming next...
the big day!

Magical Weekend ~ Part One

Thursday.
Pre-pre wedding day.
and is Christa Jean nervous, jittery?
Has cold feet set in?
Is she wondering, "What in the world am I doing?"

Apparently not...

So let the festivities begin!

With Aunt Donna lending a hand...

and Jess and I putting in our our two cents...

vibrant arrangements were created!

And then there was the not-so-well-thought-out
selection of a black basket for the
needed white basket card holder.
What were we thinking?!...

Rachel was an excellent task master...

As Michelle worked on beautifying
the mail order cupcake holder
(and beautify she did.  Wait until you see the finished product)...

There was a practice run on hair styles
for a junior bridesmaid...

and a request was put in for a family favorite...
homemade mac&cheese!

as we ended the night with some candlelight
and family loving!

Part Two Coming Soon!
