"I Am Touched by How I Touch Other People's Lives"

(disclaimer...this will be an ongoing, updated blog...because the one-liners keep coming!)

In our family

Robert
is known for his one liners...
not meant to be funny, but they
 constantly. crack. us. up.!
And when they don't fit in the "funny" category, they are very, very poignant.
So, for posterity sake, I will be
recording his comments.
I realize this will be esoteric for many,
but for those within hearing range,
the backstory will keep us smiling for years.

~"I am touched by how I touch other people's lives!"
His response to accolades of what a great guy he is.

~"I can be friends with anybody... unless they're not friendly."
Said while it was being mentioned how he can hold a
conversation with anyone in any place.

~"What if a raccoon walks out of the woods and walks through the ceremony!?!?"
Said while trying to pick out a wedding venue.

~"It's not about winning; it's about beating Charlie!"
Said during a heated family card game.

~"God gave me options!"  (Christa's response: "Then you got married!")
Said when it was announced there was a mandatory game night
during family vacation in which he didn't want to participate.

~To Christa:  "Do you need anything special, like a hug or a kiss?"
Said while they were going through the hardest time of their lives.

~"Are you laughing at me?!?" "You should be laughing at the movie!"
Said while we were having a family movie night watching
A Christmas Story, and we could not stop laughing at
                                     Robert laughing at the movie.

-"How do you take so long in the shower?!?  You only have 4 major body parts to wash!!!!
Whish, wash, splash and you're done!"
Said to Christa and Jess when it was being determined who would be first
in the shower and how long they may take.

~ Robert  "What candy did you buy?"
  Christa "Reese's, M&M's, Hersey bars"
Robert:  "Did you get the ones with almonds?!!!"
Christa  "This candy is for the kids, NOT YOU!"
Said a couple of days before Halloween
So far, my vote for favorite,
and one of the reasons why I love this guy so much....
~"Oh, we were just passing out hugs"
Said when Christa & Robert were hugging two friends good-by in a parking lot and
Christa turns around and Robert is hugging an eighty-year-old passerby!
                                            The silver-haired lady's parting comment..."You smell good!"

~Christa texted me this picture

along w/this message...
"Robert and I are just hanging out at the house watching tv. And he goes in the room and comes out wearing this. I asked him where's he's going and he says 'it's 9/11...I don't care if we're sitting home alone, I'm going to wear our colors.' Now he's in the closet finding red, white and blue for me to wear! God bless America! We will always remember!"

The Case of the Stolen Sunglasses!

Christa, Robert and I were out running some errands.
for lunch.
Stopping by some stores.
And then a quick stop at
for some yummy ice pops!

Walking out the door,
I turn to take a pic (of course) of Christa and Robert in front of The Hyppo
when Robert realizes he left his sunglasses on the counter by the register.
Christa and I go to the car as he goes to retrieve his glasses.

When he comes out... no glasses!!

He's positive he walked in there with them, and
that they are in there, somewhere, in someone's possession.
Instead of driving away, he goes back in because he had noticed a security camera.
Christa and I are still in the car waiting....enjoying our pops.
I'm voicing my lament of missing out on the photo op with popsicles!
Also, saying over and over...
"he was in the try on room at Marshall's...
he had to leave them there!
We need to get over to Marshall's quick!"
All they while I'm thinking...."Kiss those glasses goodby!"

Robert comes out with a # for the manager, makes a call telling the manager he wants
someone to look at the security footage as he's sure the glasses were on the counter.

Hmmmmm, I'm thinking, let's not rule out Marshall's!

As we start to drive away,
Robert pulls back over to go in one more time,
sure that an employee has his glasses, as there were no customers after us,
and wanting to give them one more chance
to come clean.
He comes out empty handed
saying that the cashier was acting suspicious!
Christa suggests...uhhhh, maybe she's acting nervous!

Now,
these glasses were very special to Robert
as you can see from his instagram post from that day....

^^^
Notice his quote,
"...best pair of glasses I ever owned.
You will be missed."
.

Fast forward to the next night....
I'm sleeping in Jessica's guest room but in my half-asleep state,
I can hear Jessica laughing away.
And
I get the full story the next morning...

Christa had called Jess
and asked her to go look in my purse...

apparantly, after looking at the security footage,
the manager called Robert and asked him if
"that woman in a black shirt with brown trim was with him in the cafe"
Robert says "yes"... so the manager tells him...
"Well, she picked up your glasses and put them in her purse!"

Oops...mea culpa...
can I blame it on my subconscience!!...

"The subconscious mind...
automatically reacts to situations with its previously stored behavior responses.
AND, it works without the knowledge or control of the conscious mind.
This is why we are generally unaware of our behavior,
in fact most of the time we are not even aware that we are acting unconsciously" ~lifetrainings.com

I think so!!!

Anyway, Robert,
these glasses are pretty great...

I hope you get them back!!!

P.S,
FYI...
For a few months now
I have in my possession
a pair of subscription sunglasses
that I "found" in my car....
is there an owner out there?!?
